Shilpa Shetty kissed by Richard Gere, public outraged
The actor who starred in Pretty Woman kissed Shilpa Shetty repeatedly despite her apparent unease. Perhaps he did not know much about the Indian culture, or perhaps he was too attracted by the Indian beauty.
The kiss created a public outrage in India, with demands for him to be prosecuted and charged.
Gere later apologized, saying "It has never been, nor could it ever be, my intention to offend you."
Shilpa Shetty was a contestant in a UK reality TV show called Celebrity Big Brother. She is a model and actress, and has appeared in more than 50 Indian movies.
