They all quit school to focus on making music, a decision which caused Ross to fall out with his dad.
Brent Wilson left the band abruptly in May 2006, apparently after having a fall-out with the rest. Jon Walker filled his place temporarily, but has been with the band since.
The group's efforts paid off when they won Best Video at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards for their music video for "I Write Sins Not Tragedies".
Besides "I Write Sins Not Tragedies", they have also released other music videos: "But It's Better If You Do" and "Lying Is the Most Fun a Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off". Movie Snakes on a Plane uses a remixed version of P!ATD's song "The Only Difference Between Martyrdom and Suicide Is Press Coverage" on its movie soundtrack.
