Padma Lakshmi marriage to Salman Rushdie ends

Padma Lakshmi is set to divorce famous writer Salman Rushdie after more than 3 years of marriage.

Born "Padma Parvati Lakshmi", the Indian-American was said to have expressed a "desire to end their marriage."

Also the host of reality TV Top Chef, Padma said through her spokesman that she "regrets that their mutual efforts failed to make the marriage work."

Her new cookbook Tangy, Tart, Hot and Sweet will be released in September 2007.

Salman Rushdie is the author of Satanic Verses, a book which incited violent reactions from Muslims globally.
