Jayne Mansfield's Husband Passes Away

The late Jayne Mansfield is perhaps most remembered for her role in the Tony Randall comedy Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter?, and Frank Tashlin's The Girl Can't Help It. The bombshell of 1950s and 1960s was born "Vera Jayne Palmer" of German ancestry and grew up in Dallas Texas. She was at one point sought after by 20th Century Fox to replace Marilyn Monroe who was becoming hard to control. But things did not turn out well, and Jayne Mansfield became somewhat a poor man's Marilyn Monroe. She just did not have the X-factor that Monroe so easily exuded.

Jayne Mansfield's former husband is Mickey Hargitay, an actor and Mr Universe 1955. He passed away in 2006 due to multiple myeloma. Their daughter is Mariska Hargitay, who won an Emmy Award for Law & Order: Special Victims Unit also in 2006.
