Dawn Richard Makes the Band with Her Sexy Vocals...
Dawn hails from New Orleans, Louisiana, but her family was affected by the hurricane Katrina and relocated to Baltimore, Maryland.
The name Danity Kane was a result of her drawings. She was drawing anime in the studio when Diddy asked her the name of the cartoon character. And the rest was history.
In an MTV interview, Dawn plays an understanding big sister, sorta, when commenting on how the group members get along: "We're all so eclectic, we all have very different backgrounds and different understandings of life, so we just try to keep it really eclectic and be aware of all the different types of people."
Having a postive attitude toward life, Dawn did not let Hurricane Katrina affect her life. She counted herself lucky to be in Making the Band 3, to "have the privilege of working with these women" and "that's more than [she] could ask for out of [her] situation."
